We Want Your Feedback! New PKP + SFU Open Publishing Courses Coming Soon

PKP is pleased to announce the launch of collaborations with SFU Master of Publishing and Lifelong Learning for new open publishing courses, and seeks community feedback.

This just in! PKP is launching a new collaboration with Simon Fraser University’s (SFU) Master of Publishing (MPub) program and Lifelong Learning. We’re getting ready to launch three scholarly communication courses – each with a unique focus on open access publishing – to graduate and continuing education (non-credit) students starting January 2026.

The Open Publishing Series is truly one of a kind. The three course series blends academic insight with real-world practice to offer flexible, asynchronous online learning to journal editors, librarians, library students, and publishing professionals worldwide.

Whether you’re building new skills or deepening your expertise, these courses offer practical, relevant learning from one of Canada’s top research universities and premier training ground for publishing professionals.

Two new courses have been developed alongside the previously offered PUB 411 / 611 to create a Scholarly Communications stream and expanded learning opportunities for students both within, and outside, of the MPub program.

Students can earn credit towards their graduate degree or request a non-credit certificate of completion for each course. Expertly curated by PKP, each ten-week course covers a unique aspect of open access publishing:

  • PUB 611: Making Knowledge Public
  • PUB 603: Journal Management and Editing
  • PUB 604: Technologies and Infrastructure for Academic Publishing
