Invite to Indonesia ORCiD Open Journal Systems (OJS) User Community

You are invited to join PKP and ORCiD! Learn about OJS usage in Indonesia's scholarly publishing landscape and get to know OJS - ORCiD interoperability. 

The webinar is free, online, happening on one day that spans two time zones: 

Wednesday, December 13, 7 PM MST, which is also Thursday, December 14th, 9 AM WIB in Indonesia.

The Public Knowledge Project’s flagship software, Open Journal Systems (OJS) is the world’s most widely used journal management and publishing system with use by over 34,000 journals worldwide. Indonesia accounts for PKP’s largest user community, and ORCiD. This event is possible thanks to the grant received from the ORCiD Global Participation Fund (GPF).

Join PKP and ORCiD — the latter being the foremost organization offering author-level persistent identifiers (PIDs) for scholarly communications. This event will feature insights from PKP, ORCiD, and the Indonesian academic publishing community, including a live demonstration showcasing ORCiD interoperability with OJS in the latest version of PKP’s OJS software, version 3.4.

Speakers

Juan Pablo Alperin is the Co-Scientific Director of PKP, Associate Professor in the Publishing Program at Simon Fraser University, and the Co-Director of the Scholarly Communications Lab (ScholCommLab). Juan is a leading voice in Open Access and Open Science communities, who can intermediate between the Latin American experiences and the discussions about these advancements worldwide.

Erik Hanson is a Systems Developer at PKP, and works closely with both PKP Hosting and Publishing Services and PKP’s Development Team. Erik holds a Master of Library and Information Studies degree from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Publishing degree from Simon Fraser University.

Brian Minihan is based in Kona, Big Island of Hawaii, and supports the strategic goals for ORCiD Consortia Member Organizations in Scandinavia, the Asia Pacific region, the United States, and Canada. Before joining ORCiD, Brian was a Scholarly Communications Librarian at Hong Kong Baptist University, where he was an advocate for Open Scholarship in Asia. Brian has also been a Systems Librarian at Innovative Interfaces and a Research Associate at University of San Francisco’s Ricci Institute for Chinese-Western Cultural History.

Hery Purnobasuki is a professor in Airlangga University’s Biology Department. Dr. Purnobasuki is renowned for his expertise in plant structures, particularly mangroves. Holding a PhD from Tohoku University, Japan, he has contributed significantly to the scientific community with over 60 papers and projects. Notably, Professor Purnobasuki is the Head of the Institute of Innovation, Journal Development, Press, and Intellectual Property Rights at Universitas Airlangga. He has been instrumental in advancing OJS in Indonesia, particularly at Universitas Airlangga, where 102 journals are managed under his guidance.

This platform has enhanced journal management and global recognition, as evidenced by the impressive indexing achievements: 12 journals indexed in SCOPUS, one in ESCI/WoS, 6 in the ASEAN Citation Index, 55 in DOAJ, and 85 in SINTA. Professor Purnobasuki’s efforts have significantly increased the visibility and impact of the university’s research on an international scale through innovation and publication.
