PKP invites Open Monograph Press users and community members to join OMP Fest for a half-day on Wednesday March 25th, 2026, 9 AM PT, and shares a Call for Proposals.
We invite you to join us in March for OMP Fest, a half-day event to celebrate the use of OMP in the PKP user community! Building on PKP’s recent focus on OMP, this event will showcase real-world applications of the platform and bring together those of us invested in growing open publishing for books and other standalone scholarly publications.
The day will begin with a panel of special guests (to be announced), followed by presentations and lightning talks from community members (please see our call for proposals, below!). Attendance is free, and registration will open in February 2026.
🗓️ Date and time: Wednesday, March 25, 2026, 8 AM – 11 AM PT (5 PM – 8 PM CET)
📍 Location: Remote via Zoom (registration required)
▶️ All sessions will be recorded and shared with registrants and on YouTube after the event.
Call for Proposals
We encourage you to submit a proposal on your use of OMP that you think would be of interest to others in the community. This could include (but is not limited to!):
- Designing and operating an institutional publishing program
- OMP customisation work
- Regional or national collaborations
- Innovative uses of OMP beyond traditional scholarly book publishing
The sky is the limit here, and we welcome all your ideas – your submissions will shape the focus of our time together!
To propose a session, please complete our proposal form by January 16, 2026. You will be asked to provide the following information:
- Session title
- Abstract (200 words max)
- Presenter details
- Format preference:
- A15 minute presentation plus question and answer period, OR
- A 5 minute lightning talk
- Delivery preference:
- Live presentation (via Zoom)
- Pre-recorded presentation (e.g. if time zones don’t align)
We will review submissions beginning January 16, 2026 and confirm acceptance with presenters by early February 2026.
Please note, all presentations will be recorded and shared via PKP’s YouTube and social channels following the event, for those not able to attend. Please contact Zoe Wake Hyde (OMP Coordinator) at zwhyde[at]sfu[dot]ca with any questions.
We are excited to celebrate our communities and looking forward to learning about how folks are using OMP. Please save the date, submit a proposal, and join us!
