You are invited to help revise the PKP School course on “Becoming an Editor” by joining a community card sorting sprint on November 12 at 9 AM Pacific Time.
PKP is committed to developing resources to help our software users build their knowledge and enhance their scholarly publishing practices. We build and maintain PKP School, a set of online, open, self-paced courses designed to help improve the quality of scholarly publishing around the world.
As a free and open-source (FOSS) community, our software and resources are strengthened by contributions from our global community. We invite you to join us for this hands-on session to help us gather insights and ideas for our upcoming (revised!) course on Becoming a Journal Editor. Your experience and expertise will help us build a course that is relevant, engaging, and beneficial to new and existing journal editors.
In this collaborative session, you’ll work in small groups to organize a set of journal publishing course topics under relevant headings, ensuring that the structure aligns with your interests and needs.
How It Works:
- Group Collaboration: You’ll be placed in breakout groups with other participants, allowing for discussion and shared perspectives as you sort topics together.
- Card Sorting: Each group will receive digital cards representing various course topics. Your task is to sort these cards into categories that make sense to you and give each category a meaningful title. You can leave out any topics that you don’t believe belong in the course.
- Suggest New Topics: After sorting, you’ll have the opportunity to brainstorm and suggest additional topics that you feel would enhance the course content.
- Feedback Loop: Your contributions will play a crucial role in shaping the final course outline, ensuring it meets the needs of all participants.
Why Participate?
- Make Your Voice Heard: This is a chance to directly influence the course content and structure.
- Collaborate and Connect: Engage with peers, share ideas, and learn from one another in a supportive environment.
- Help Us Create Value: Your insights will help us build a course that is relevant, engaging, and beneficial to all learners.
