
Publishing Support Specialists
Position Type: Part-time contractors (10-15 hours/week)
Rate: $36-41 CAD/hour
The Public Knowledge Project’s (PKP) Publishing Services team is seeking part-time contractors to provide front-line support for our community and hosted software users. We’re seeking personable, tech-savvy, and creative individuals with strong communication and relationship-building skills – and a passion for PKP’s open source software!
Publishing Support Specialists Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly and professionally to software inquiries and issues.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive software training.
Requirements
- Intermediate experience working in Open Journal Systems (OJS). Experience with Open Monograph Press (OMP) and/or Open Preprint Systems (OPS) is an asset.
- Exceptional problem-solving ability backed by good judgment.
- Experience with technical evaluation, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Basic familiarity with web standards like HTML, CSS.
- Relevant experience in client support.
- Fluency in English. Fluency in other languages is an asset.
Working Arrangements
We are seeking up to three part-time independent contractors. Successful candidates can work remotely from anywhere in the world. We are seeking contractors for six-month agreements to start (with the possibility of extension) to work either a 10 hour/week or 15 hour/week schedule, including weekend, holiday, and evening coverage as needed. Working hours are flexible (although you will need to participate in some online meetings in American time zones) and depend on the contractor’s location and availability.
The contract fee is $36 to $41 CAD per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
