Managing an OJS journal and need back office support? PKP has joined forces with Open Academia, a Swedish-based publishing service provider, to bring OJS journals editorial support, production editing, and OJS 3 website design. This important partnership enables both organizations to work together to develop the necessary infrastructure and support for our shared clients. Together, we are making independent publishing a viable option.

In addition to developing and maintaining our flagship software, Open Journal Systems (OJS), PKP provides OJS hosting, consulting, and custom development through PKP Publishing Services (PKP | PS). Our services, though extensive, do not include typesetting, website design, or editorial services. Under this partnership, PKP | PS will refer clients seeking these additional services to Open Academia – this includes processing manuscripts through copyediting, typesetting, proofreading (liaising with authors), online publication, indexing and archiving. The Open Academia staff can also serve as the peer review support contact for all system users: editors, section editors, authors, reviewers and readers.

When paired together, PKP | PS and Open Academia offer a complete production and publication service. Our mutual goal is to lower the barriers of publishing for academic societies, university presses, and libraries by giving OJS users the support they need to take control of their publishing. Best of all, our partnership benefits the entire OJS community. Our support and promotion of Open Academia – whether they are PKP | PS clients or not – helps OJS users to publish with the prestige and freedom of their own institutional imprint. And Open Academia, in exchange, is committed to sharing its voice and experience to the larger PKP community through contributions to our documentation and support (for all OJS users) on the PKP Community Forum.
