Report from the Third OJS-de.net Conference in Berlin

By Kevin Stranack

On February 1st and 2nd, 2018 the German speaking OJS community met again for the third OJS-de.net conference in Berlin at Freie Universität. About 70 representatives from various German speaking universities, research institutes and libraries participated.

During the first day, a wide range of talks and presentations, mainly focusing on OJS 3 experiences as well as OJS software development and improving hosting services in the bigger context of national open access strategies, gave a diverse overview of the current developments within the community.

The second day focused on more practical workshops. Participants were given the opportunity to get an introduction in using OJS 3 as well as using Fiduswriter. The main topic though was the end of funding of OJS-de.net in 2019 and finding strategies to distribute the tasks and services of the network among more participants in order for the network to be able to continue work after the initial funding period. At the same time, the German speaking OJS developer network met for the second time to share experiences and present their latest projects on a deeper level.

The conference proved itself a success again as immediate and subsequent feedback showed (see this blogpost by OpenAire).

We are happy to announce that for the first time the project will be able to offer video recordings of almost all presentations held on the first day. Recordings will be available under this link: http://www.ojs-de.net/veranstaltungen/netzwerk-workshop-2018/index.html
