As part of our ongoing effort to enhance OJS, OMP, and our other free, open source software and services, PKP is again reaching out to the community to consider becoming financial supporters of our work.
Through the contributions of our sustainers, we have made several important accomplishments over the past year. Here are just a few examples of what their support made possible:
OJS 3.1: With the help of our many usability testers, we were excited to release OJS 3.1 in September 2017. This release completes some of the features that didn’t make it into OJS 3.0 as well as incorporating feedback from our early adopters.
LOCKSS PN: The PKP Preservation Network (based on LOCKSS) now includes ten node institutions ensuring multiple copies are kept safe. Reliable digital preservation was a challenge for many OJS journals, and they are now secure.
Article Level Metrics: Paper Buzz is a new ALM service developed by Impact Story, in collaboration with PKP. We are working now to develop a plugin that will allow OJS and OMP users to take advantage of this new technology.
Open Typesetting Stack: We are continuing our work toward the beta release of OTS, a new automated typesetting service that will allow you to upload unstructured Word documents and export JATS-XML, HTML, EPUB, PDF, and other publishable formats. This will result in significant time and cost savings for journals and monograph publishers, making open access more affordable than ever.
Please find attached a copy of our latest Annual Report to the Community for more information.

We will be continuing these initiatives in the coming year, including the ongoing development and improvement of OJS and OMP, strengthening our service offerings in areas of digital preservation, digital identifiers, article-level metrics, and automated typesetting. We will also be continuing to work with our global community to discover how we can help to meet their current and emerging needs.
None of this will be possible without the commitment and support from you and all of our partners and sustainers. For those who have already contributed, we thank you. For those considering making a contribution, please do consider helping continue our work. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me directly.
