PKP Joins OASPA

November 29th, 2016 by  | 2 Comments

PKP is very happy to announce that we have recently become members of the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA), under their “Other Organization” category, alongside such good friends as DOAJ, INASP, Knowledge Unlatched, SciELO, SPARC Europe, and others.

We felt that it was important to join OASPA because of the critical work they do in representing the interests of open access publishers around the world and facilitating dialogue and continuing education to help us all move forward.

Their membership criteria should be required reading for all open access publishers and journals looking for a reputable publisher as it provides a valuable set of guidelines on how to publish professionally, effectively, and ethically.

OASPA also not only holds an annual international conference featuring the latest trends and issues in open access publishing, but also uploads the slides and recordings from each speaker. This is a valuable archive of both current learning materials and of the history of open access.

We encourage other open access publishers (or other allied organizations) to consider applying for membership and demonstrating their commitment to a world of open access that is of high quality, innovative, transparent, and ethical.
