Custom Reviewer Recommendation Option

Postby apeterka » Sun Feb 09, 2014 7:15 am

Hi PKP Coders, I've been asked if it's possible to remove or otherwise change the Reviewers Recommendation options. Currently they have the recommendation options of Accept Submission, Revisions Required, Submit Elsewhere, Decline Submission, or See Comments. The director really doesn't want the reviewers to provide any recommendation and would rather they just submit to the director their review.

Is this a massive customization, or something a newbie, such as myself, could customize?

Thanks, Alan

Hi Alan,

There would be a fair bit to change. The recording of a recommendation is what closes off the review and marks it as complete, so removing that part of the review process would mean you'd have to shuffle around some other bits of code in order to make sure that the correct email notifications went out to the right people and that the dates for things were correctly updated. Most of this would need to happen in the classes/submission/reviewer/ class.

Thanks Jason,

Your tip to the class file led me to find the array that populates the reviewer recommendation options. I commented out all but the "See Comments" option. This should appease the director. Let me know if this is going to break anything down the road.
