Subscription link leads back to user home

Postby jcb » Wed Aug 22, 2012 12:24 pm

I am running OJS 2.3.7 and have two options for personal subscriptions (digital and digital+print)

The problem is that when a user tries to subscribe to a personal subscription (i.e. they've already created an account and logged in) they get sent back to their user home.

For example, a logged-in user clicking on the "Purchase New Subscription" link for a personal subscription (http://commercialbiotechnology.com/user ... individual) gets sent back to http://commercialbiotechnology.com/user .

If they try to buy an institutional subscription (http://commercialbiotechnology.com/user ... titutional), then they correctly get sent to the institutional subscription payment screens.

I'd like to troubleshoot the personal subscription link. Is the link correct? Why might the system not be working?

Hi jcb,

Have you made any customization to any of the subscription-related files?

Do you have any web server redirects setup for your domain?

Cheers,
Michael

Michael,

Thanks for checking in.

I am using redirects. I grabbed the code elsewhere in the forum. When I turn the redirects off in .htaccess and config.inc.php, the following page works:

http://logos-press.com/journals/index.p ... individual

So, the problem likely lies in the redirect. Can you help troubleshoot the .htaccess code below?

#pkp rewrites
DirectoryIndex index.html index.php
RewriteBase /
RewriteEngine On

# Check for and remove "www" if necessary
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.*)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%1/$1 [R=301,L]

# Use this set of 3 lines for each of your journals
RewriteCond %{SERVER_NAME} ^commercialbiotechnology.com
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/jcb/$1 [L]

FWIW, I capture this url in the navigation bar right before the page redirects to the user home:

Code: Select all

http://commercialbiotechnology.com/login?source=%2Fuser%2FpurchaseSubscription%2Findividual

-- it comes right after clicking the 'purchase individual subscription' link that should direct to

Code: Select all

http://commercialbiotechnology.com/user/purchaseSubscription/individual

Is the "purchaseSubscription" page trying to read info from the url string and failing?

Hi jcb,

Unfortunately nothing jumps out at me with your config -- it'll require that you do some debugging and testing on your end.

Please do share what you uncover if you have a chance, as other users may be running into similar issues in the future.

Cheers,
Michael

Michael,

Please look at posting.php?mode=reply&f=8&t=8969#pr34838

I took a look at pages/user/index.php and pages/user/UserHandler.inc.php and saw a lot of redirects. Any idea why these might be getting triggered?
