Navigatil bar suggestion

Postby nef » Thu Jun 25, 2009 2:25 am

Hi
Under 'Setup' - 'The Look' you can add an item to the navigation bar (5.5). I would like to suggest to make it possible to remove some of the default links in the navigation bar. How about that?
Regards
Niels

Hi Niels,

You can't currently remove items from the topmost navigation bar via the user interface, although this may be possible in the future. You can, however, edit the relevant template file -- in this case, templates/common/header.tpl, and also templates/article/article.tpl (that's the article view template file).

Cheers,
James

Is this still current? Because all I see in the header.tpl in regard to the navbar is this line: {include file="common/navbar.tpl"} But I can't find the navbar.tpl to edit it and remove certain items from the navbar

Hi mbauerCOM,

It should be in templates/common/navbar.tpl.

I'm not sure what version I'm running. How do I find that out?

Hi mbauerCOM,

In OJS 2.4.4-1, the navbar is definitely in templates/common/navbar.tpl. See the source tree for that release:
https://github.com/pkp/ojs/blob/ojs-2_4 ... navbar.tpl

Oh I believe you, but I'm looking at the folder and there's no navbar.tpl and I've done a search, still no navbar.tpl.

Must be an error somewhere on my end...

Hi mbauerCOM,

Are you already in the lib/pkp subdirectory of your installation? Look in templates/, not lib/pkp/templates/.
