Automatic e-mail prompts

As a newbie, we are still trying to figure out exactly how the system works. We have our first article out for review and it seems that prompts to reviewers have to be sent out manually, while we are not prompted when
completed reviews are returned but rather have to keep checking
files to see what has happened to them. Is this correct? Or are we missing some system settings that would generate automatic e-mailings to
reviewers when their due date has passed, and notify editors when
a completed review has been returned?

Hi Mike,

Review requests to reviewers need to be sent out manually, but once an initial request has been sent out, reminders can be configured to go out automatically (see the "Scheduled Tasks" section in docs/README).

When a reviewer completes a review, the last step is to send an email back to the editor explaining that the review is finished.

These two emails have templates that can be customized or not, as desired, both by the person who is sending the email and by the Journal Manager using the "Prepared Emails" interface.
