Automated indexing and anti-spam after submission

Postby sfkeller » Wed Oct 11, 2006 2:52 pm

Dear developers,

I have following suggestions: Obviously, after submission Harvester2 sends an e-mail to the admin but does not inform the submitter, what he has to expect after submission.

What I would suggest is, that there could be a short text saying "Thank you for submitting! An e-mail will be sent to you after approval of this service.".

But what would be even more stimulating, is, when the archive gets indexed immediately. In order to avoid DOS attacks, one could add a CAPTCHA to the submitters form which would be reasonable anyway.

Hi Stefan,

We'll consider this for our next release -- at the very least, we'll be adding a note to inform the submitter that the site won't be indexed immediately; however, the CAPTCHA test approach sounds promising as an option.
