original file names for uploads

Postby wbt » Mon Apr 19, 2010 7:47 am

When a user uploads a file for review, the name gets changed to a systematic name (10-20-1-SM.pdf or something like that). This makes sense, because there will be no problem of duplicate file names. However, when authors upload their source material for the proceedings (.tex files and separate image files), the LaTeX source code refers to nonexisting file names, because all image files get renamed. I noticed that the original file names are stored in the MySQL database. Is there a simple way of renaming all files back to their original file names? Does anyone have a PHP script for that? Thanks!

Hi Wouter,

OCS doesn't handle this kind of situation particularly eloquently at the moment. We've been discussing on and off different ways of handling multi-file and interlinked submissions, but haven't come to any particular conclusion yet. Is there any chance you could send me a set of submission files that are emblematic of the submissions you get? You can email them to me at jmacgreg at gmail dot com. I probably won't be able to offer an immediate solution, but I'll be able to come up with a good bug report, which will be taken care of in due course.

There's also information on linking to other files in the system here, although this means you'll have to edit the LateX file links.
