IP control on subscription

Postby lixh » Wed Nov 17, 2010 8:05 pm

Dear Sir,

We now have a problem on subscription.
Our journal is open accessed to all reader inside our country (China) but should be subscribed for the readers outside our country according to the contract between IOP and us.
But we have trouble to discrimminate the readers inside or outside country. It will be a very big problem to add every IP address inside our country to the subscription list. At the same time, we have a free access for the first month of new issue published to all readers and we don't know how to realize this too.

Would you please give me some suggestions?

Hi Xianghua,

There has already been discussion on how to subscribe entire countries here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3859#p14937. However, I would agree that it would be a great deal of work to do this for the entire country of China.

Regarding your second question: you could always publish an issue as open access (see the access option in Issue Data); and then when a month is up, manually switch the access to Subscription.
