OJS Registration

Thank you for your interest in registering your installation of OJS!

With the release of our new website we currently do not maintain a list of OJS journals as we once did. Rather, we are increasingly relying on automated means of generating these lists, links and statistics and you can expect more announcements from us in this regard in the future. In the meantime if you’re interested in current OJS usage worldwide, please see our OJS Usage┬ápage.

If you are looking for support for your OJS installation please visit our wiki, search or post to our support forums, visit the PKP School, or contact us directly.

For more information on getting your journal indexed, see Getting Your Journal Indexed on our wiki.

  2. Ojs is amazing. I have learned it for nearly 4 years. Since then, I backup all our past jissues. Following that, we decided to follow this system from the earliest step, submitting manuscript. Eventhough we have not mastered on it yet, we belive that ojs will improve the publication quality. Thank for developing this system.

      Hi Jessika,

We don’t currently have an option to register with OJS. If we start such a service again in the future, we will let our users know.

Hi there, I realize you do not register for now, is your database accessible through other online databases from universities?

    • Karen Meijer-Kline says:

      Hi Pule,

PKP does not own or provide a database of journals using our software, although OJS journals do get picked up by Google Scholar automatically.

Hello, I’m building a site for a client. This site will also enable people to submit journals, and optionally have people pay for journals before reading.
I just downloaded OJS. How can I embed it into this website for the main functionality of submit and reading of journal.

  8. Suciati says:

We currently develop online journal using Open Journal Sytem. I wonder if the articles uploaded in the OJ website can be accessed using google scholar. Could you please enlighten me on this matter. Thank you.

    • Karen says:

      Hi Suciati,

Yes, OJS contents are fully indexed in Google Scholar.
You will find more information on getting indexed in the documentation wiki, here

  9. In the page “3.5 Register Journal for Indexing” the link http://pkp.sfu.ca/harvester/add.php doesn’t seem to be working. Is the “Public Knowledge Project Metadata Harvester” still working?

    Tks in advance.

    • Karen says:

      Hi Graciela,

At the moment there is no option to register your journal (see above). We are working on making something available again, and will post an announcement once that is ready.

      Best regards,

    Hi sir,
OJS is really an excellent platform to work with. Though i have got following queries:
    1. Is there any site where we can get themes for OJS sites.
    2. In new developments, is there any provision for changing color of the ojs hosted sites as the color provided in the present ojs themes are quite basic and look of the site is not quite professional.
    3. Nowadays, people are increasing accessing websites through tablets, mobile phone and other smart devices. Is there any chance that we can get a responsive design in future versions of OJS
    4. Is there any chance that we can add captcha and other useful plugin (example those of wordpress) in OJS…

will be highly thankful, if they can be incorporated in future versions.

    • Karen says:

      Hi Aakash,

      Thank you!

You can post any feature requests to our OJS development forum: https://pkp.sfu.ca/support/forum/viewforum.php?f=9
There are definitely options for captcha and many other plugins available. You will find our documentation here: https://pkp.sfu.ca/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page
There you will also find information on how to customize and theme OJS. Feel free to post to our support forum if you have any questions or run into any issues.
We will certainly keep responsive design in mind for the upcoming major versions of OJS (although I’m not sure for when it is scheduled; the developers on the forum can answer your questions about that).

      Best regards,
      PKP Team
