PKP 2019 Five Reasons Why: #3 Community

Do you work for a library, publisher, or department specializing in scholarly communications? Are you part of an organization or research team that supports scholarly publishing? Do you assist others using Open Journal Systems (OJS) and/or Open Monograph Press (OMP)? If yes, then you’re one of thousands around the world who are part of the PKP community – our third reason why you should attend PKP 2019, our Seventh International Scholarly Publishing Conference.

Members of the PKP community work in libraries, university presses, scholarly societies, and related publishing services. They are editors, journal managers, librarians, software developers, and researchers. They work with authors, readers, and clients on a daily basis – not necessarily others in the same role as their own. When they do connect with peers, it’s usually over social media, email, or at a conference.

Back in 2007 when PKP’s conferences began, we were one of the only in scholarly publishing. Times have changed, and there are now many different conferences and forums. Still, our conference remains unique in that they are specifically tailored to PKP software users, partners, and contributors – members of our community. They are the best place you can learn from OJS and OMP experts. Meet the people behind the products you use. Get tips and tricks. Contribute to the development of the software. Talk about technology. Not talk about technology. Get excited for all things open access and open source. And meet an international group of like-minded colleagues. There really is no other conference like it.

As we said in our first reason why, PKP 2019 isn’t just a conference, it’s a community gathering. And we want you, the members of our community, to join us November 20-22, 2019 in Barcelona.

Early registration ends September 13, 2019. For more information, visit
