Technical Partners
PKP Technical Partners are critical participants in the advancement of the Public Knowledge Project and its associated software applications. Technical Partnership examples include institutions that take responsibility for a full translation; assist with software documentation, technical support, beta testing, or development efforts; or contribute funds or other in-kind resources to PKP. Becoming a PKP Technical Partner requires an institution to provide long-term, on-going support in whichever area(s) of responsibility they identify; PKP, in turn, will officially and publicly recognize the vital importance of the relationship, provide direct channels of communication between our organizations, and explore opportunities for ongoing collaboration, such as co-application of grants or funding.
Team AePIC provides a consortium of eleven Italian universities with e-Publishing and digital library services, including support for Open Journal Systems and Open Conference Systems. Team AePIC maintains the Italian translations of each platform, and also contributes development and testing resources to the project. |
Through its AU Press, Athabasca provides publishing services using PKP software, and is also a major development partner for the Open Monograph Press. |
The Center for Scientific Documentation and Information - Indonesian Institute of Sciences (PDII - LIPI) monitors the publication of all periodicals published in Indonesia, and assigns the ISSNs (International Standard Serial Numbers) within the country. There are currently 7000 scientific journals in Indonesia registered with an ISSN, but only 4000 are still regularly publishing. Our team is now using OJS for electronic journals. In 2011, we translated the OJS and its documentation into Indonesian and developed some prototype journals. In 2012 we plan to give the system freely to the publishers in Indonesia along with technical support and training. |
Ediciones de la Universidad de Murcia has been a longstanding contributor to PKP. The organization hosts over fifty journals and conferences; hosts tutorials and talks for journals, editors and directors interested in publishing scholarly content online; participates actively in the PKP support and development community by providing plugins and online support; publishes articles on OJS; and will also shortly offer a course on OJS at the national level through the the University of Murcia. |
University of Victoria's Electronic Textual Cultures Lab is a research-focused lab that stands at the forefront of Digital Humanities research, in the areas of text analysis, reading tools, and do0cument encoding. The lab has partnered with PKP over several years to research and develop innovative new tools for the reading and sharing of scholarly text. PKP has also participated in the lab's annual Digital Humanities Summer Institute. |
Freie Universität Berlin has been a long-time contributor to PKP. Through the efforts of Bozana Bokan, Katja Mruck and Marco Tullney, the Universität has developed and maintains the OJS German translation; has contributed significantly to our platforms' multilingual capacity; and provides ongoing and timely assistance on the support forum. The Universität has become the primary source of knowledge and support for PKP projects in Germany, and is working to provide critical support for national scholarly research and dissemination. |
IBICT supports Brazilian OJS journals with full-time staff members delivering workshops and technical support, and serves as an active member of the OJS testing and translation team. |
OJS China provides facilities for Chinese-language support; provides ongoing Chinese translation of OJS and OCS; and also hosts a number of Chinese journals. |
V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine is the largest library in Ukraine, a research institution of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, one of the main scientific information centers of the Eastern Europe and one of the top 20 world's largest libraries. The library is a provider and adopter of the national open access policies of Ukraine, is the nationwide holder and online publisher of all scientific serials and theses, and is financed by the State budget of Ukraine. The project "Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine", initiated by Ukrainian governmental bodies and supported by the library, provides open access to half a million articles from 1700 titles of Ukrainian scientific journals and bulletins. The Library have provided both the Ukrainian translation of OJS and the GOST reference plugin, as well as support for local publishers using OJS. |
