The latest issue of the Journal of Electronic Publishing includes the article "Toward the Design of an Open Monograph Press" by John Willinsky.

Abstract:

The Public Knowledge Project is very pleased to announce our partnership with the Athabasca University Press to develop the new Open Monograph Press electronic publishing platform. OMP will provide an online workspace for publishing monographs, edited volumes and scholarly editions. Proposed features include an incubation site where authors can blog ideas; online composition tools to create text and related resources; and an interactive publication site that will support reader comment and other input.
