Encoding issue while importing

When I'm trying to import articles using xml plugins, I am having issues with the character: 1999Ð2000 in my abstract tag. How can I solve such encoding problems?

Hi sarangi,

Are you using a validating XML editor? I'd suggest double-checking the XML to make sure that you're using the right encoding in your editor. Import documents should be UTF8-encoded. (You may be using something like ISO8859-1 a.k.a. Latin1, or else it's possible that you're pasting text that includes invalid Microsoft extensions such as so-called smart quotes.)

I went back and save the file to utf-8 encoding and also converted the file to Unix format from Windows format. The xml file started working.

Thank you very much.
