Article Access Possibilities

Postby GennadyK » Fri Oct 19, 2007 2:04 pm

Hi Alec,

There is ability to restrict access to all articles of the journal (on the JOURNAL level) for non registered users.
Is it possible to override this global access on the SECTION level? On the ARTICLE level? On the ISSUE (actually it's ARTICLE level, but will change access for all articles of the issue with one click) level?
SECTION access overrides JOURNAL and ARTICLE overrides SECTION.

Thank you,
Gennady

Hi Gennady,

No, currenly access is set at the article, issue, and journal level; could you describe your situation in a little more detail?

Thanks,

Thank you, Alec

I didn't submit articles, so don't know that access for article/issue is possible. As of our situation section access would be very appreciated, as some sections as editorial, shorts, news are open for public and regular articles only to registered users. Also as we need to import ~100 issues it will be easy to set access based on sections.

Thank you,
Gennady

Hi Alec,

Could you please point me to the place in the doc where I can read about overriding access on the articles level?
Can't find it.

Thank you,
Gennady

Hi Gennady,

If Subscriptions are turned on in Journal Setup, the access levels can be set as Editor by going through the Issues interface (i.e. either clicking Back Issues or Future Issues). In those pages, you can set the default level of access for the entire issue, and override that default for individual articles on the Table of Contents page.
