Journal fulltext articles and OA

Postby christo » Wed Sep 12, 2007 4:25 am

Hi

I'm being a little lazy here, but how would i go about the following:

1.) Checking if an article is available open access
(also; where is this specified in the publishing process?)

2.) What is the best way to determine which files are to be downloaded for an article?
3.) can a single article have a number of different public files for download?

Thanks
christo

Hi Christo,

If subscriptions are disabled, the journal is assumed to be open access. If subscriptions are enabled, you can set Open vs. Closed access in the Editor's Issues interface (e.g. "Back Issues") both for the issue itself and for individual articles within the issue.

Currently, the following files can be downloaded:
  • One file per galley; this is the actual HTML or PDF
  • One file per supplementary file (used e.g. for external datasets, tables, and figures)

Without sounding too naive...how many galleys can an article have?

If it can have more than one gallery, what would be the case for this?

thanks

Hi Christo,

Each galley is meant to present a version of the full-text of an article, e.g. HTML, PDF, TeX, etc.
