We would like to be be able to sell single articles, and issues, that are hosted on OJS.
We are planning to migrate to OJS in the near future. We have around 1,000 articles online -- online versions of back issue articles that originated from our print journal. We would like to develop (or, ideally, "borrow") the following functionality to OJS:
1. if a user is not logged on, or is logged on but does not have access to articles online, the TOC will list a link for "abstract" and "buy article" next to each article. Similarly, the abstract will end with a link to "Buy article", but have no links to the galleys.
2. This link will be an URL to a local store (which already exists), and will pass user information & a "store ID" to the store to allow for the transaction.
3. Once purchased (i.e., confirmed by the local store via a passed-back value), the user will be able to see the links to the galleys on OJS.
Now, I can just start hacking away at the code, but I thought that that this kind of functionality might be in the works. Ideally, we'd like to head in the same direction as the OJS upgrades will eventually take us to cause minimal disruption come update time. Also, if these functions have already been created, but are still a bit rough, it would still be easier to look at that code than to start from scratch.
Though I feel that this must be a commonly-request feature, I have had trouble finding a discussion on it in the forums. If I'm just missing that discussion, I would appreciate a push in the right direction.
