What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in...

Postby hoppe » Tue Aug 28, 2007 5:03 am

Dear Alec,
I have not found a satisfactory solution to the following error message, even though similar errors have been discussed here in the past:

Code: Select all
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /path_to_httpdocs/cache/t_compile/%%8A^8A9^8A9DBDDF%%submissionsInEditing.tpl.php on line 51

The error occurs every time I move a submission from review to editing. After that, the only way to get rid of the problem is to delete the submission and resubmit it. Any ideas?

I'll try to attach a screenshot as well.

All the best,
Nils

Hi Nils,

A missing proof assignment entry in the database could cause this to happen; one of these entries should be created for every submission. Is there an unusual route the submission has taken in getting into the system?

We bypassed the proofreading for this article - could that have been it? Is there anything I can manipulate in the database to fix this?

Hi Nils,

Even if proofreading is bypassed, the entry should still be created when the article is submitted. Anyway, you can create an entry to replace the missing one as follows, given the article's ID:
Code: Select all
INSERT INTO proof_assignments (article_id) VALUES ([article ID here]);
