What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Folder permission problem

Postby msaghaei » Tue Aug 21, 2007 3:28 am

Hi Alec

We use
Code: Select all
chmod -R 777 some_path
to set the pemissions of files folder, but whenever a new paper is submitted the created subdirectories are not publicly writable, and this produces some problem during article processing, for example copyeditors can not upload the edited files. The server is Apache/2.2.3 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.1 with mysql database and the ojs version is 2.1. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi Mahmoud,

Are you using PHP Safe Mode? When safe mode is enabled, created directories do not belong to the process that created them. You may be able to work around this using the safe mode GID check option in php.ini.

FYI, using permissions of 777 is a potential security problem.
