What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

How can I do without section editor?

Postby antonyc » Wed Aug 15, 2007 4:09 am

I setup ojs for a journal. However, they don't need the role of section editor.
But if editor ignored selecting section editor and directly assigned reviewers, author would still see the status "Awaiting assignment" instead of the correct status "Queued for review".
How can I do? The solution I thought until now is to ask the editor to select himself as the section editor and then go further.
Is there anyone who has a good idea?

Best regards,

Antony

Hi Antony,

The Editor can use the "Assign Self" link on the submission page; there's no need to the log in as Section Editor, as the Editor can perform any necessary editorial tasks directly.

Dear Alec,

Thank you for your reply. What you suggested is what I do now. You meant we don't have another way to do it?

Best,

Antony

Hi Antony,

It's necessary for an Editor or Section Editor to be assigned so that OJS knows who to contact when editorial emails are sent; is there a particular reason that solution isn't ideal?
