Can section editors reject submissions without reviews?

Postby bernardforgues » Tue Jun 05, 2007 12:16 am

We must be missing something here, but section editors complain they can't find how to reject submissions without reviews.
Is there a way to get the system to record desk rejects from section editors?

Hi Bernard,

If you want to reject a submission before putting it through review, use the "Archive" link on the submission's Summary page. Depending on the version of OJS you're using, you'll be asked whether you want to compose an "Unsuitable Submission" email to the author; if you like, you can skip the email.

Hi - what we do is have our section editors record a 'Decline Submission' decision. Then they hit the author email icon and give their reasons for the decline (based on our in-house template, they have to insert it manually at this point unfortunately).

The declined subs go straight to the Archives.
