Import XML DTD bug

Postby ariadatexts » Fri Jun 01, 2007 8:50 am

I've just been trying to use the XML import plugin and I think there may be a bug in the DTD:

It declares the
element inside
as optional. But when you try to import it into the database, you get an error message saying the field may not be null.

In the documentation it does mention that you should use for empty fields and gives
as an example.

Perhaps in the DTD it should be made mandatory? (Or might it be the case that its only mandatory for the primary contact?)

Hi ariadatexts,

Thanks for the heads-up. Yes, the email tag should be mandatory in the DTD; we've discussed removing this restriction, as back-issues imported via XML are often old and author emails aren't available, but we haven't come to a decision yet. In the meantime, use the work-around or supply an editorial email address.
