Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

When I click the link Browse - By Author I get the following message:
DB Error: ERROR: Unable to identify an ordering operator '<' for type '"unknown"' Use an explicit ordering operator or modify the query

How do I fix that?

Niels Erik

Hi Niels,

Could you turn on the show_stacktrace option in config.inc.php, try again, and post the results here (camouflaging anything you deem private)? What DBMS are you using, and what version?

Hi Niels,

Try applying the patch at http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2907; please let me know if it corrects the problem.

Hi Alec
Unfortunately the patch doesn't correct the problem. I still receive a stack trace, when I click Browse by author.

Hi Niels,

This appears to be a problem specific to PostgreSQL < 7.4. Until we come up with a more platform-independent solution, try the second patch posted at http://pkp.sfu.ca/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2907 (attachment #208). You'll need to reverse the first patch by applying it with the -R option.
