For the editor it is currently impossible to tell from looking at the in-review article table which articles require his action after the initial decision has been made, because it is not visible from this list if the author has submitted a revised version. I can also not search for those manuscripts, or sort the list accordingly. We have at any time more than 25 manuscripts in the queue and I have to click regularly trough this list to see what article needs my action (editor re-review, or forwarding to reviewers to the next round).
All it takes would be to display the date of the latest author version article (in a separate column, or in the "submitted" column), so that the editor can see whether that date is newer than the last decision date.
(if someone would post the code for this for a quick hack I'd be grateful)
Of course, some visual highlighting of these articles would also be nice (if lastdecisiondate < lastauthorfiledate then highlight).
