What to do if you have a technical problem with OCS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved. Please note that this FAQ is OJS-centric, but most issues are applicable to both platforms.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OCS Conference Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OCS Development subforum.

Error on installation of ocs 1.1.7 in fedora core 6

Postby ricardo » Thu Apr 26, 2007 12:10 pm

Hi,
I am getting the following error during the installation of ocs 1.1.7:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_create_db() in /var/www/html/ocs/include/db/db.mysql.inc.php on line 53
My system has apache 2.2.4-1, php 5.1.6-3.5 and mysql 5.0.27-1.
Any ideas of what is going wrong?
Thanks.

Hi Ricardo,

It sounds to me like you don't have the PHP mysql module installed in your php.ini configuration file. Make sure the module is configured to load, restart your web server, and try again.

Hi Alec,
Thanks for the quick answer.
I already have php-mysql installed in my machine (I'm running the OJS on it).
Should I have any special entry for php-mysql in the php.ini file?
Thanks.

Hi Ricardo,

Yes, there should be something like:
Code: Select all
extension=mysql.so
This will depend on your OS; check the documentation that comes with php-mysql.

Hi Alec,
My extension was properly set.
I got the problem solved by the following modification in db.mysql.inc.php in line 53:
Replace the function mysql_create_db($db) by mysql_query('create database ocs').
Thanks.
