Customisation Problem - Working Paper Series

Postby Stirton » Thu Apr 26, 2007 3:31 am

Hi there,

I am setting up a working paper series for the graduate students of my university department--and trying to use OJS as a basis for this. Here is my effort, so far.

I am just figuring out how the templates work, and am running into one particular problem. I need to change the templates so that references to "journal" become references to "working paper" globally. If I go onto, say, the sidebar template, to change where it says "Journal Content", and change "<span class="blockTitle">{translate key="navigation.journalContent"}</span>" to working.Paper.Content, I get gobbldigook. So there is obviously a definition of "journal" somewhere. Is it easy for someone with limited coding skills to change this? I also need to change, e.g. "About this Journal" to "About the Working Paper Series" in the "About" section, and so on...

Any help on where to get started would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lindsay,

Because OJS was written to operate in multiple languages, the text can't be embedded directly in the template files. You'll probably want to modify the English locale file, which is in locale/en_US/locale.xml -- search that file for the locale key that you see in the template files (e.g. navigation.journalContent) and you'll find the text to change.
