Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Initial articles in title index

There must be a discussion about this issue that I can't find: those initial articles in the browse by title index.

It would be so nice to have a sort-title field in the metadata to get titles to sort properly in the title index ignoring their initial articles while being able to keep the initial articles in the tables of contents display, metadata etc.

It seems like such an added field might help with the transliteration problem discussed in some posts.

Hi Nancy,

A lot of changes are going into the article metadata model for OJS 2.2 to incorporate better multilingual capabilities. This will be a stepping-stone towards extensible/modifiable metadata sets. At that point features like this will become much easier to add e.g. as plugins. If in the meantime this is a critical feature for you, and if you have access to a PHP developer, I can describe the changes required in detail; otherwise, I'd suggest waiting until the new metadata model, as changes made now would need to be re-implemented to take advantage of it.

I hope that answers your question!
