Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

missing fundamentals -- manually editing pages

Hi there,

I'm trying to get rid of the title and description that appear in the content of the Home page. Where is this content generated?

Is it a matter of editing the .tpl files?

Thanks...

Just to add to my previous post...

I've attempted to alter, for example, \templates\common\sidebar.tpl by removing some code

e.g., removing (or just moving):

<div class="block">
<a href="javascript:openHelp('{if $helpTopicId}{get_help_id key="$helpTopicId" url="true"}{else}{url page="help"}{/if}')">{translate key="navigation.journalHelp"}</a>
</div>

but the changes I make don't appear on the site. I'm either in the wrong place or deleting the wrong things.

Or ... both?

Thanks!

Hi Shimrah,

Make sure that the cache directory including all contents and subdirectories is writable by the web server. If it is, any modifications you make to .tpl files should take effect immediately.

The code you describe is responsible for displaying the "help" link on the top of the right-hand sidebar. The journal title and description can be edited as Site Administrator by choosing "Hosted Journals" and clicking the "Edit" link beside the journal in question.

There we go ... thanks.

I changed the permissions, and now all is well. :wink:
