Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Multiple roles

One of our referees recently tried to register as an author - and failed to do so. To check out the problem, I, as Editor and Journal Manager, tried to register as an Author - and failed to do so. It seems that the system does not allow multiple roles. Is there a solution to this problem, or are both of us just trying to do it the wrong way?

Many thanks for any help.

Hi Tom,

OJS does support multiple roles. If you're a Journal Manager, you can add a new role to anyone's existing account by using the "Enroll Existing User" link at the bottom of any role's list in Journal Management. Alternately, the user can self-enroll for an additional role by logging out, clicking "Register", following the "Click here if you are already registered with this or another journal on this site", and filling in the form.

The next release will also include the ability to add one of the available self-registration roles (e.g. Reader, Author, and/or Reviewer) on their profile page.

Thanks, Alec - I'll offload that reply and pass it to colleagues.
