Changing review

Are you an Editor, Author, or Journal Manager in need of help? Want to talk to us about workflow issues? This is your forum.

Forum rules
This forum is meant for general questions about the usability of OJS from an everyday user's perspective: journal managers, authors, and editors are welcome to post questions here, as are librarians and other support staff. We welcome general questions about the role of OJS and how the workflow works, as well as specific function- or user-related questions.

What to do if you have general, workflow or usability questions about OJS:

1. Read the documentation. We've written documentation to cover from OJS basics to system administration and code development, and we encourage you to read it.

2. take a look at the tutorials. We will continue to add tutorials covering OJS basics as time goes on.

3. Post a question. Questions are always welcome here, but if it's a technical question you should probably post to the OJS Technical Support subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

A reviewer mistakenly selected revise and resubmit instead of reject. Can this be undone now?

Hi yqg,

You can't delete decisions -- that would compromise the record-keeping, mistake or not. However, you can record a new decision to override the old one. In addition, I'd suggest using the Submission History interface to record a note indicating that the first decision was a mistake.

Along the lines of changing a review...

A reviewer signed their review with their full name (in the section that can be viewed by editor AND author). I didn't notice this until after I recorded the editors' decision. Can I get in there and edit his review somehow? Or, is there a way I can block the author from seeing that review?

Hi yqg,

Did the reviewer include these in the text box when writing a review, or upload it in an annotated file? If the former, the review is always mediated by the Editor, and you'll have a chance to remove the name from the comments when including them in the email to the author. If the latter, you ought to be able to upload a revised review as Editor.

It's in the text box. Can the author see it? I assumed so but please let me know if I'm wrong. I will edit it in the email to him.

Hi yqg,

No, the author can't see it. Review comments are always mediated by the editor.
