What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Hi jferrer,

Have you followed the installation instructions in docs/README? It sounds like you're trying to use OJS without having followed the installation steps to create the database.

Yes I did it. In fact the read instructions only talk about review the config file. I did it and changed the dbase access data, the site information, but I dont know if there are some other parameter to change

Hi jferrer,

Is "Installed" set to "Off" in the configuration file? If you've changed this to "On", you'll miss the installation process.

Hi jferrer,

Hmm... Are you using the most recent release (OJS 2.1.1)? What happens if you go directly to the installation URL, e.g. http://www.my-server/path/to/ojs2/index.php/index/install? (If you've turned on disable_path_info, let me know and I'll give you a different URL to try. Otherwise, the above should work.)

If that doesn't get you anywhere, try turning on show_stacktrace; post the output here (changing anything you don't want public) and I'll see what I can do.

Hi jferrer,

Could you turn on the show_stacktrace option in config.inc.php and post the output (changing anything you don't want public)?

Same Problem, table does not exist message

Postby wileydavis » Thu Apr 05, 2007 12:04 pm

I've been unable to install as well, getting the same "ojs.journals table does not exist" message. Install is set to off in the config. I've also tried the direct link posted above, no luck. Any ideas?

Here's the stacktrace info:

Hi wileydavis,

When you say "Install" is set to "Off", do you mean "Installed"? Also, I think the direct URL you're going to is incorrect; according to the stack trace, it appears as though you're going to something like http://www.my-server/path/to/ojs2/index.php/ojs/install when you should be going to http://www.my-server/path/to/ojs2/index.php/index/install.
