Can't change users email address

Can't change users email address

Hi. We are just getting going with setting up a journal in OJS, and have run into an odd problem. One of our editors wants to change the email address she uses, but when we enter the new address in her user profile, we get back an error indicating that someone else is currently using that address. However, when we search for a user with that email address, there is none. (Also, we can imagine situations in which two users would want to use the same email address - shouldn't that be permissible?) Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi kerseyd,

We don't permit two accounts to share an email address; there are enough free email providers out there that no two users should have to share. See http://pkp.sfu.ca/support/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1647 for some discussion on how to find a user who doesn't appear on the "All Users" list -- briefly, that list only shows users who have a role in the journal, and you may need to give them one (e.g. Reader) before they'll appear. Use the "Enroll Existing User" link at the bottom of the "All Users" page, choose a role (e.g. Reader), and enroll them.
