Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Issue with Registration Email

Postby Stewie » Fri Mar 09, 2007 2:45 pm

When a new user registers the email that is sent to them does not have a 'From' address, it just shows that is from '<>'

Is there a way I can specify what the 'From' address should be?

Also when some one tries to register for a journal it will not let them. The journal manager has to assign them a role before they can see the journal. Is this how its supposed to be?

Thanks
Stewie

Hi Stewie,

There are two places to set the "From" email address for emails originating with the site, depending on which address you want to set ("reply-to" or "from"). First, check to make sure that the principal contact is set on Journal Setup, page 1. Then, if that doesn't do what you're looking for, try enabling the "allow_envelope_sender" option in config.inc.php and then set the "Bounce Address" setting on Journal Setup, page 1. (Your mail server may not allow you to do set this second option.)

To enable or disable self-registration of various roles, see Journal Setup, page 4, under "User Registration".
