Update from 2.1.0-1 to 2.1.1

Postby zulfi » Thu Mar 01, 2007 9:17 pm

Hello,

The version number on my installation is not rolling up to show 2.1.1 after I update from 2.1.0-1 to 2.1.1. I am able to run the "Manual Update" on the database without errors the first time I bring up tthe system with "Off" in the config file.

Suggestions pl. Thanks.

Hi zulfi,

Were you able to use the regular update process (i.e. not the manual process)?

Hi Alec,

I used Option 3 in the update notes to download the full version and replaced the old (2.1.0-1) folders/files with the new (2.1.1) ones.

Hi zulfi,

OK, sounds good -- and for the database upgrade? Did you manage to follow the automated upgrade process (either using tools/upgrade.php or the web interface), or have you only tried the manual upgrade process?

Hi Alec,

Tried the web interface on the database but it gave an insertion error, so I selected the manual database upgrade and it came back successful.

Hi Zulfi,

I'd suggest working on the problem with the web interface, as it should be equivalent to the manual install but automatic instead of manual. Do you have the error message? If not, restore your database from backup and try it again, with the show_stacktrace option enabled in config.inc.php.

Hi Alec,

Here's the error message:

Errors occurred during installation:

A database error has occurred: Duplicate entry 'PASSWORD_RESET_CONFIRM' for key 2

Hi zulfi,

This is most likely caused by an earlier failed upgrade attempt. Do you have a database backup to restore from before the first upgrade attempt?

If not, you may be able to work around it by deleting from the mail templates tables for email key "PASSWORD_RESET_CONFIRM".

Hi Alec,

Should I delete the row or just the values in the columns. I show 0/1/Null/Null in the four columns in that row.

Hi Zulfi,

Back up your database using mysqldump, then run this SQL:
Code: Select all
DELETE FROM email_templates_default WHERE email_key = 'PASSWORD_RESET_CONFIRM';
DELETE FROM email_templates_default_data WHERE email_key = 'PASSWORD_RESET_CONFIRM';
DELETE FROM email_templates WHERE email_key = 'PASSWORD_RESET_CONFIRM';
DELETE FROM email_templates_data WHERE email_key = 'PASSWORD_RESET_CONFIRM';
Try the upgrade again and see how far it gets.

Hi Alec,

This is the error I got when running the web upgrade after running the script you posted:

Errors occurred during installation:

A database error has occurred: Duplicate entry 'OPEN_ACCESS_NOTIFY' for key 2

Then I ran the manual command, but got this error:

DB Error: Table 'ojs.rt_settings' doesn't exist

I can open remote access for you if you have time to take a look at the server.

Hi Zulfi,

It sounds like you're trying to upgrade an installation that has already been partially upgraded but failed in progress. If you don't have a clean backup, you're going to have to work through the upgrade file (dbscripts/xml/upgrade.xml) to find out how far you got and complete the task by hand.

If you got as far as the error message stating that the rt_settings table was missing, it means you may have to run the commands in upgrade/2.2.0_update.xml manually; once you've done that, try inserting the new version information into the versions table and setting it to current. (If you need help with that, let me know and I can provide more detailed instructions.)

If you have any information on the original upgrade failure, please let me know -- and please back up before trying any administration tasks like upgrades!
