URL rewriting?

Postby arachne » Thu Feb 22, 2007 6:52 pm

Hi - looked round the forums but couldn't see an answer to this Q:

How can you change the ways the article URLs are generated, from:

http://domain/index.php/myjournal/article/view/9/4

to what the Canadian Journal of Communication uses:

http://www.cjc-online.ca/viewarticle.ph ... ayout=html

- I have seen the posts on getting rid of the 'index.php' part, which I will be working on, but what about the rest?

cheers,
Jenea

Hi Jenea,

The Canadian Journal of Communications currently uses OJS 1.x, which is an entirely different (and much older) application. If you'd rather use URL parameters than the CGI path_info, try turning on disable_path_info in config.inc.php.

Argh - unfortunately setting

Code: Select all
disable_path_info = Off

killed my painstaking and finally successful erase of 'index.php' !! (from viewtopic.php?t=741&highlight=url)

Perhaps I just need a better understanding of the base_url parameters?

I have this right now:

Code: Select all
base_url[index] = http://www.medusamedia.ca/journal/index
base_url[3sp] = http://www.medusamedia.ca/journal/3sp

- (test site) where my install is not at the root but is in /journal/

Or do the two solutions not match?

cheers,
jenea
