What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

can't upload files

Postby dsanchez » Thu Jan 18, 2007 3:54 pm

Hello

I am unable to upload files, but it's trange. In the step 3 of the proceess, when I browse, choose and upload the file it says all the time "no file have been uploaded". However on the step 4 I am able to upload the secondary files.

What could be wrong?

Thanks

David.

Hi David,

Test with a smaller file; there may be a limitation on upload file sizes, either in PHP's php.ini configuration file or in your web server configuration. Check for upload size limits and POST data limits.

Hi David,

I'm not sure why you'd have trouble with a submission file and not the supplementary files, unless your server configuration has changed since the submission begun and file permissions are no longer correct... please verify the following steps:
  • Begin a new submission
  • Try uploading a file for the submission (step 3)
  • Try uploading the same file as a supplementary file
Let me know what success you have.

Hi Alec

I thought suplementary files would be uploaded, but indeed it's not.

I tried again and nothing.

Would you mind to try it in my site with the following info:

user: (removed)
pwd: (removed)

http://revistas.pucp.edu.pe/ojs/index.php/summa

Do you think is a directory issue?

Something else: I know OJS currently support multiple magazines installations. IS there any address where I can check if someone is using this feature to allow the creation of different magazines for it's students or teachers in certain University/School/Institute?

Thanks

David.

Hi David,

I'd be very surprised if this wasn't either a permission problem in your files directory, or a configuration problem in your php.ini file. I can't check with author access. (By the way, it's probably not a good idea to post login information here.) Please check your file permissions, and your PHP file_uploads, upload_tmp_dir, upload_max_filesize, and post_max_size directives.

Hi Alec

Which directory I have to chmod 777 to fix the problem? Actually I did chmod 777 to the "files" directoy but still problem stays.

I'll check later the php.ini thing

Thanks

David.

Hi David,

I'd be careful about using 777, as it's a considerable security risk. Generally you'd chown the directory to www-data or nobody or whatever your web server runs as, or something similar. Whatever you do, you'll need to use the "recursive" option to chown and chmod.
