What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Restricted Access for items in a Section

Postby JZief » Thu Dec 14, 2006 2:19 pm

Hello Alec,

For a Journal section named "Reviews" I would like to restrict access of some of the reviews. For our journal there are two types of reviewers: internal and external. the internal reviewers should be able to see everything, but the external reviewers should only be allowed to see some reviews. How do i restrict access to the external reviewers - can it be role-based or does it have to be on an individual review-file basis?

Thanks,

Joel

Hi Joel,

I'm not sure I'm following; here's how things currently are: All reviewers must be explicitly assigned to a submission before they can access it. No reviewer should be able to access a submission without being assigned to it first. You might consider giving your internal reviewers Section Editor access to the Reviews section...

Hi Alec,

Good Idea! I guess there is no problem with access by external reviewers after all. But...they can still see the table of contents for the Reviews section. Is there a way to make the table of contents for the Reviews section disapear for the external reviewers?

Thanks,

Joel

Hi Joel,

I'm still not sure I'm following; the reviewers don't have any special level of access, i.e. they should only be able to view the Table of Contents for published issues, just like anyone else.
