How to make list of users accessible to the Editor ?

Postby ledadmin » Tue Mar 04, 2014 7:08 am

For operational reasons we need to give to the "Editor" access to the list of "Users", now available exclusively for the Journal Manager. Is it possible?
An alternative solution could be the creation of a user with a role in between the Journal Manager and the Editor, who can only access the list of "Users".
The point is: the editor needs to see the list of users but he must not have all the other functions related to the journal manager. How can we do this?

Hi ledadmin,

Some of the user tools are available to Editors for the purpose of Reviewer creation and enrollment; have you looked at those?

Yes, but in that case the editors see the users of all the journals using ojs software on our website.
Is it possible for the Editors to see all the users of the journal they are editors for? Not only the reviewers, but also the authors and the readers.

Thank you!
Best regards

Hi Tiziana,

That would take some custom development. If you have a PHP developer on hand, I can provide some general pointers.

Hi Tiziana,

The Editor's interface is implemented in pages/editor; you would need to implement a table that allows browsing of journal users based on the one implemented in pages/manager (particularly pages/manager/PeopleHandler.inc.php). Because you want different functionality, I'd suggest copying over the relevant code into the Editor's interface and then removing the parts you don't want. See also the OJS Technical Reference for general information on OJS's structure.
