Disabling reference metadata

Postby aauger » Thu Feb 27, 2014 7:28 am

Is it possible to disable reference metadata so authors do not upload this information? Is this a question for our system administrators?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi aauger,

I'm not sure what you mean by reference metadata. Can you provide an example of what you'd like to do?

Jason

Hi Jason,

Apologies for not providing more detail!

In Open Journal System, when authors submit a manuscript for review, they are asked to input their metadata like name, correspondence, abstract, etc. There is also a section to add references which I would like to disable so that authors are not able to input references as part of metadata - and are encouraged only to add references in their uploaded manuscript. Please let me know if you need more information.

Hopefully this is clearer!

Thank you,
Andrea

Hi Andrea,

It sounds like you have the Citation Markup Assistant enabled in Journal Settings, on Step 3. Having this box checked off provides a field for authors to enter citations and references during the submission process. Unchecking it will remove that option.
