What happen with article galley views?

Postby cccaballero » Fri Feb 14, 2014 9:10 am

After update to 2.4.3 version, I notified, that OJS, stoped counting new galley views, now when I check, I see that the "views" column from the article_galleys table was removed. I found that it is because is using the new Statistics Framework, but in the ArticleGalleyDAO, the function incrementViews(), and in PublichedArticleDAO, in the function incrementViewsByArticleId(), still use the old view column from article_galleys.
I see too that in the view() function in ArticleHandler.inc.php, is no more the incrementViews call.
Is this a bug?

Hi cccaballero,

This is a bug, but it doesn't make the system crash. It's just that I didn't removed those functions in DAO, but they are not being used anywhere.

The galley views now use the new statistics structure. They will not show the old stats for your galleys, only the ones that were processed after the upgrade. So you might noticed the changing on those values. If you don't see any value at all and you are sure that your galleys are being used, try to make sure if your files are being processed. Take a look at your files directory, inside usageStats/archive folder, and see if there are any files there. It should be, if not, then something is going wrong.

Bruno

After the weekend suddenly appeared some visits and his log entries from Thursday and Friday (Friday afternoon was still not counting visits), but only from the abstract, no galleys. But now the same problem continues, do not appear new visits or their respective entries in the file. Is this delay normal?
And is not counting any of the galley views.

I am runing ojs in a local network for testing, and accessing from several pc in the network.
The url is somthig like http://10.12.20.1/myojs/. will be this the problem?

Regards.

No, the url shouldn't be a problem, I think.

Can you send one of you archived log files? I can take a look to see if the galley downloads events are being stored there.

Thanks,
Bruno

Today appeared the log file from Monday 17, it has the galleys log, but they are not in the metrics table, the unique entry to the abstract, appears in the metrics table
there is my db consult:
SELECT * FROM `metrics` WHERE `submission_id` = 214

and the result:
load_id assoc_type context_id issue_id submission_id assoc_id day month file_type country_id region city metric_type metric
2.4.2-upgrade-ojsViews 257 1 18 214 214 NULL NULL NULL NULL NULL NULL ojs::legacyDefaul 94
usage_events_20140212.log 257 1 18 214 214 20140212 201402 NULL NULL 0 NULL ojs::counter 24
usage_events_20140213.log 257 1 18 214 214 20140213 201402 NULL NULL 0 NULL ojs::counter 6
usage_events_20140214.log 257 1 18 214 214 20140214 201402 NULL NULL 0 NULL ojs::counter 15
usage_events_20140217.log 257 1 18 214 214 20140217 201402 NULL NULL 0 NULL ojs::counter 1

I can´t submit the log file, it always says that the extension is not allowed...

For the 214 article in usage_events_20140217.log there is an entry entry like this:
172.16.16.26 administrative 1 "2014-02-17 14:11:55" http://172.16.16.199/finlay2.4.3/index. ... e/view/214 200 "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0"
and abaut 50 like:
172.16.16.26 - - "2014-02-17 10:20:09" http://172.16.16.199/finlay2.4.3/index. ... w/214/1140 200 "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0"

Hello

After upgrading from 2.3.7 to 2.4.4.1, all the statistics are lost.
I have a problem with the Statistics migration. All views are "0"

When link on views I get this: "DB Error: Unknown column 'galley_views' in 'order clause' "

Please, help me

Hi Elizabeth,

What you mean by: "When link on views I get this"?

From what I could understand, it seems you have an incomplete upgrade process. Can you confirm what version do you have for the ojs product inside the versions table?

Thanks,
Bruno
