Crossref and DOIs

Postby jpowell » Tue Feb 11, 2014 3:06 pm

A journal we are working with wants their DOI suffix to be the journal's initials and OJS article number only. We advised them to choose the first alternative in setup 1.1 and the pattern %j%a. However, the journal initials are not showing up.
1. Did we advise them incorrectly?
2. Do they need to click the reassign DOIs button?
3. We assumed the journal initials are pulled from the setup in 1.1, is that correct?

Thanks for your help,

Hi Judy,

That recommendation looks correct to me. Is this for an article that was already published? If so, once the DOI is displayed or exported for the first time, the DOI will be affixed to the article and won't change thereafter (even if the journal configuration changes). That's why there's a "Reassign DOIs" button -- use that if you want to reset (and then re-generate) DOIs, even those that may have been served up for outside use. If the journal is not yet live, go ahead and use that button.

The journal initials do come from setup 1.1.

Thanks Alec. Clicking the Reassign DOIs button did fix the problem and the suffix portrays as intended now.
