ISSN metadata

It seems that currently OJS does not have a metadata field for a journal's ISSN. In the future will this be added as a field?

Hi Kathy,

OJS has fields for online and print ISSNs; they're available on journal setup, page 1.

I realize it is in the setup. However, there is no reference to it in the "indexing metadata" section. Which I am assuming (maybe incorrectly) that the ISSN is not being harvested. I tried searching your harvester with an ISSN of our harvested journal and there were no results.

Hi Kathy,

The Harvester collects article-level metadata, but since the ISSN is journal-level metadata, it's not indexed. We've considered adding a journal-level metadata harvesting plugin and may do this in the future; this would be a minor development task.

Currently, the ISSNs specified in setup are used in the following places:

• Resolver plugin to resolve articles based on ISSN
• Counter stats plugin
• CrossRef export plugin
• Erudit export plugin
• PubMed export plugin

ISSNs are not currently exposed via the OAI interface, which is what the Harvester uses.
