Forum rules
What to do if you have a technical problem with OJS:

1. Search the forum. You can do this from the Advanced Search Page or from our Google Custom Search, which will search the entire PKP site. If you are encountering an error, we especially recommend searching the forum for said error.

2. Check the FAQ to see if your question or error has already been resolved.

3. Post a question, but please, only after trying the above two solutions. If it's a workflow or usability question you should probably post to the OJS Editorial Support and Discussion subforum; if you have a development question, try the OJS Development subforum.

Adding fields to the article

Apart from the metadata, OJS currently supports only a title and an abstract field for information about the article. However, our journal sometimes uses subtitles. Also, since we are a review journal, publishing almost exclusively reviews (with their own title and subtitle, though), we would love to have a field to enter the title(s) of the reviewed book(s). These should be stored alongside the article data and used in the table of contents as well as the abstract and full text views.

Is there any simple way to go about this from inside the system?

Hi rrho,

Currently, the metadata fields in OJS are a limited set. If you want to add additional fields, you'll need to modify the system -- this isn't a very complicated task, but will require someone with PHP experience. We hope to make this easier in a future release. In the meantime, I'd suggest including e.g. the title of the reviewed document in the article's title field; since limited HTML tags are allowed, you can format this as you like, such as with italics tags.
